Disease prevention
In our lab we are developing AI tools and strategies that improve healthcare access and outcomes for vulnerable populations. By creating AI models that can assist with early disease detection, risk prediction, and clinical decision-making, the lab seeks to augment the capabilities of healthcare providers and improve patient outcomes. This focus includes research into advanced machine learning algorithms for image analysis, predictive modeling, and personalized treatment recommendations, ultimately striving to make diagnostics more accurate, timely, and accessible.
AI and Medical Education
Our lab explores how AI can transform medical education by evaluating the effect of the tools that enhance learning experiences for healthcare professionals such as AI or Virtual Reality (VR) for personalized education. The lab’s work aims to prepare the next generation of healthcare providers to effectively integrate AI into practice.
Responsible Al
Our lab tries to integrate EDI principles into the development of AI tools to address inequities in healthcare. We ensure that AI models are transparent and equitable to diverse populations such as marginalized communities. We also work on policy recommendations and frameworks, like EDAI framework, to promote responsible AI use in healthcare.
Older adults care
By prioritizing patient-centered approaches, our lab develops tools that empower individuals to take an active role in their health, from accessible health information platforms to AI-driven self-care solutions. These innovations support shared decision-making, enabling patients and providers to collaborate on personalized care plans.
